Kiosk 78 X Exit Calm Photoshoot

We're into our music as well as our clothing here at Kiosk 78 and when one of the best new bands in the country, Exit Calm, kindly agreed to do a photoshoot for us, wearing some of our gear, we were made up!

The photoshoot was at Hall Place Studios in Leeds, a very cool space with a vintage feel to it, ideal for the atmosphere we wanted to create for the shoot.

Exit Calm are all about making music rather than posing for photographs but we wanted to capture them in an environment that was very natural to them and we think Kerry Harrison, our photographer managed to capture this perfectly on the night.

Some of the clothing we shot on the night included items from Nom De Guerre, Fred Perry, Sunspel, A.P.C, Surface 2 Air, Folk, Norsea Industries and Heritage Research.

Exit Calm's debut album was released on Monday the 17th May and we had massive expectations at Kiosk 78 given some of the live shows we've seen and the tracks we'd already heard. Thankfully though, producer Paddy Byrne and legendary mixer Ulrich Schnauss managed to somehow capture the epic wall of sound from their live shows and translate it onto record for what surely must go down as one of the best debut albums by a British band. The album has taken a long-time coming but it's been worth waiting for, it really is exquisite from start to finish. Hopefully the boys will start to get some of the recognition they deserve.

Thanks to all those involved on the night: Simon, Nicky, Rob and Scott from the band for being good sports throughout, John Dawkins their manager for helping to organise the whole thing and Kerry for the fantastic images we got from the shoot. A top night was had by all!

Exit Calm - Amazing new band

An album we're very much looking forward to hearing at Kiosk 78 will be the debut from Exit Calm. They are easily the most exiting band we've heard in years with a massively epic and intense sound that literally blows your head off, especially live as we witnessed at Leeds Cockpit recently!

Their new single Hearts & Minds is out on the 3rd May on Club AC30 closely followed by their self-titled album Exit Calm on 17th May. Both are available to pre-order by clicking the links above and the album will be released on a very special edition double gatefold vinyl as well as CD.

We were in London last week for the prestigious Drapers Fashion Awards. We were very happy to come away winning the Award for best new business in front of nearly 1000 people from the industry.

Its a great result for us and we'd like to thank everyone involved with Kiosk 78 and more importantly all our customers and fans of the store for your support over the last 18 months.

I can assure you we are working harder than ever to continue to find and bring to you the very best menswear available from around the globe, and to continually improve our service instore and online.

Just a quick update to let you know what to expect from Kiosk78 next year.
We have gone up another level in our 'humble' opinion with some of the greatest brands from across the globe.

Sitting nicely alongside our other brands such as A.P.C, Nom De Guerre, Our Legacy, Folk and Velour, we will welcome our very first Surface 2 Air collection. There's some great tee's, shirting, knits and one sublime grey selvage denim model on its way!

We also have one of our favourite new UK labels Universal Works. Theres so much I can say about this brand, but I think they can some up the brand better than I can
"Universal Works is a collection of menswear based on traditional British workwear and outdoor clothing with a modern slant.
Universal Works is about good honest menswear, it's about quality garments with a great fit. There is no great vision or message, no target markets, just garments for everyone, clothing to look stylish in because you the wearer makes it so, clothing you want to wear, clothing you will look good in. From a background of great British working clothes and outdoor clothes, we use honest, natural fabrics and yarns, often using up dead stock fabrics that would otherwise be wasted.

We work with highly skilled people in small factories who we have known for a long time and know what they are doing. They all make great quality garments, which is never the cheapest way to make stuff but we think it's the best way."

This ethos is exactly what we are about and we unearthed another British gem with very similar ideals for SS10. We stumbled upon Nörsea Industries whislt in Paris but sometimes you miss what is right under your nose. The brand is based in Bridlington a Northern Coastal town just up the road and takes its inspiration from tales of the North Sea. This is one of our favourite emerging brands and rings even more bells with us because of its northern background, and influences.

November 09.
Off we go on our run upto xmas, we now have all of our APC clothing for this season instore and online. The A.P.C jackets are paritcularly strong, and warm this season. Expect one more restock of APC jeans before the year is out. Our Folk clothing and Nom De Guerre clothing are now all online too as well as our MHL by Margaret Howell range that has just this minute arrived!

Also expect a Passarella Death Squad t-shirt restock in the next week or so.
We've just taken delivery of our last Wrangler Bluebell Shirt for this season. This is the strongest Bluebell collection to date and the Mike Chambray shirt is a signature shirt paying hmage to the quality and vintage techniques used throughout.

Our small but perfectly formed Velour clothing range is online for this season, these are absolutely stunning shirts. Perfect slim fitting, washed supersoft cotton shirting with nice plaids and micro check designs running through the collection...expect our Velour range to grow and grow over the coming seasons.

Naked and Famous
Probably the best non Japanese denim brand we've come across, these are produced in Canada with the same attention to detail and impeccable fits, using the finest japanese selvage denim and come in at a great price...
They have gone crazy for these across the pond and have been flying off the shelves at Barney's.
We've already put plans in place to release limited models for Kiosk 78,

Full Count x D.I.E - The Last Chapter
"A pearly king is a man dressed in a traditional cockney costume covered in mother of pearl buttons. These costumes were treasured heirlooms, hand made and sometimes representing much of a familys material worth.

A story claims that in the 1880's a cargo of Japanese Pearl Buttons was salvaged from the river Thames after the boat carrying it foundered. One of the salvagers, Henry Croft, decorated his suit, hat and stick with Pearl Buttons, making him the first Pearly King.

Spring Summer 09 Look Book

This season we enrolled the fantastic photgraphic team Lucie Evans and Kirsty Conroy to shoot all our new gear in a great location to create a look book for our web site. We're more than happy with the results and think the location was perfect for creating the atmosphere we were after. It was a tough day lugging all the gear and a massive generator through floors of abandoned building but it was definitely worth the effort.
